Practical Installation Issues
However well designed your whirlpool tub, it’s important to take account of some practical concerns regarding installation. Mistakes made here can prove costly, so it is worth taking the time to read the installation and operating instructions carefully. It also pays to discuss the project with your installer and to choose a Hydrotherapy tub that should minimise the risks of faults, accidents or gradual deterioration.
Compactness of Design
Snagging of pipework and cables can be a real risk during installation, so look for a whirlpool tub with a tidy, compact design. There should be no pipes or other fittings that protrude beyond the bath rim’s perimeter, and any flexible components should be securely fixed to the bath or its chassis. This helps to ensure that nothing becomes trapped, pinched or otherwise damaged, either in transit or when the bath is being set into its final position.
As previously mentioned, each Cabuchon Hydrotherapy system’s constituent parts and piping are set on a metal frame that is bonded to the bath. It supports them, retains them securely within the inner perimeter of the bath rim and keeps the pipework permanently in place, close to the sides of the tub.
Note the tightly secured pipework, which closely follows the contours of the whirlpool tub. This helps prevent snagging during or after installation.
Here, the whirlpool tub’s integrated frame is visible beneath the pump and closely affixed pipework.

Entry to Bathrooms
All our whirlpool tubs are designed to make access and installation as easy as possible. Our Hydrotherapy systems are always affixed neatly and tightly around their bath’s profile – allowing even the widest and deepest of our whirlpool spa baths to pass through a standard 730mm / 29″ wide doorway, when the bath is turned on its side.
Electrical Supply and Pumps
Electrical safety is an essential consideration when installing a whirlpool tub. Electrical connections must only be made and tested by a qualified electrician in accordance with current regulations in most countries. The systems’ electrical components, its plumbing constituents and their use are designed to comply with all codes, standards and regulations applicable to the country/region/locale where the bath and system are to be installed.
Our pumps, which are supplied to meet the required standards of all countries to which we send them, are produced using the latest moulding and sonic weld assembly techniques. They have a run-dry capability in excess of 3,000 hours, so they will remain safe, even if they are accidentally left running on.
Testing a whirlpool tub’s electronic controls.
Cabuchon Hydrotherapy systems should be fitted to the electricity supply via an RCD circuit breaker. Installation instructions are included with each bath. The power requirements will vary according to the system and its features. If an inline water heater is specified, for example, it will be a 2kW model that operates with the pump. Chromotherapy systems are supplied with a transformer and control pad. Most whirlpool bath configurations require only a single pump, but systems with 32 jets will incorporate two pumps.
Guarantees
All Cabuchon baths carry a 25 year guarantee but, for whirlpool bath customers, we offer additional guarantees on the pipework, pump and controls.
For our hydrotherapy systems we guarantee:
- All pipe-work and jointing for the buyer’s lifetime.
